  • Word Prediction  enables you to develop your writing skills, by providing the tools to construct sentences with ease. The Word Prediction tool learns your style of writing and predicts the word you want to use next. As you type, a list of suggestions will appear in the Prediction Panel. It can be further tailored to your task by copying a document with your target vocabulary for the topic in it e.g. passage from a textbook, and pasting it into a prediction list in Read and Write.
  • The MP3 file maker- With Read&Writeyou can convert selected text into an MP3 audio file that you can listen to on your computer or mobile device.If you have quotations from a play or formula to learn, create an MP3 file, send it to your phone and you can listen back whenever you have a few spare minutes. This is a particularly good tool for those who listen to learn
  • Read and Write tool sit very discreetly at the top of your screen  meaning  it can be used at any time. You can customise the toolbar so that the tools you use most often are nearest to hand.
  • Screen masking tools  are for those of you who lose your place on the page when you look away from it, this screen masking tool will highlight your place in the text so you can return to it promptly. This is often a difficulty cross lateral students have and it may be worth checking for younger users.
  • People with reading difficulties often have difficulty with the glare of black text on a white background.  In Read and Write the background can be set to a colour that the user finds comfortable.

  • Read and Write has a speech engine called Irish  Moira  that you can download if an Irish accent is your preference. It  much more pleasant to listen to for Irish users ,especially when you are having a volume of text to listen to on a regular basis
  • Verb checker is a tool dedicated to checking the your document is all written in the correct tense/tenses. This is particularly useful for students who are using English as their second language.
  • Screenshot reader allows documens such a Inaccessible Flash and “Locked” PDF documents to be read. The Screenshot Reader is the first to remove the barriers inherent in such programs. This means that previously inaccessible text is now accessible.
